NEW PRODUCT
Celebration Bowle
Prenzel Bowle

The Prenzel Distilling Co. is celebrating its 20th birthday.

After starting life as the 'Marlborough Fruit Brandy Company', the distillery now has a wealth of expertise, (and products to prove it) with which to create our new and truly memorable product to celebrate its 20 years.

As The Prenzel Distilling Company turns 20, the traditional methods of producing quality flavours continue to be entwined with a taste of Kiwi excellence.

Bowle (pronounced ‘Bowl-a’ and so called as it is typically served in a large glass bowl) is the latest delight to roll out of the doors of the Marlborough distillery. Traditional recipes from Germany and the Alsace region of France use fruit sprinkled with sugar, then soaked in brandy as a base.

Prenzel Distilling have developed a spirit especially for this purpose. White wine is later added and chilled, then before serving, champagne is also stirred into the mix. (For a lighter version, lemonade/soda can be used.)

Prenzel founders Hugh and Chris Steadman celebrating two decades of distilling think it’s apt that Bowle should mark this auspicious occasion.

Call in soon to one of our tasting rooms at Botany Town Centre or Whitford Village to share a toast to our fabulous company.

Sweet Success for Prenzel Lemon Zest at World Competition....

Only four months after its release, our new Limoncello 'Lemon Zest' has been awarded Gold at the 2009-2010 World Beverage Competition in Florida. The finest beverage products from iced teas to vodkas were tested by an international panel of industry professionals. Packaging and brand names are kept secret from judges and double blind tastings prove to be an effective way to provide honest opinions.

New to our range in October 2009, Lemon Zest is light smooth and refreshing. Prenzel Distiller, 22 year old Hayden Johnstone says he’s ”pleased with the result.” He developed a traditional Italian recipe but adjusted it specifically to the New Zealand palate. To win Gold in the USA would indicate “that its appeal is not just limited to Kiwi tastes.”

Company owner Hugh Steadman says he’s absolutely delighted with the outcome, “Limoncello is a relatively new category in New Zealand and is fast becoming the flavour of the year. New Zealand lemons are particularly flavoursome when compared to those grown in other countries – so I am not surprised we can win medals for this product overseas.”
We invite you to come and tasting this refreshing liqueur in store – See you soon!

Local Feature - Black Rabbit Tours

Black Rabbit Gourmet Food Tours is a new boutique company recently launched by local lady Trisha Murdie.
Trisha takes small groups of six or less people around the Clevedon area, south of Auckland, to learn about and taste local food and wine.
Visits include a wild bee apiary, olive oil estate and meet the water buffalo from which New Zealand's only mozzarella cheese is made!
Then there's the local oysters, handmade chocolates and of course a choice of stunning wines at the local vineyards! Trisha's tours are unique because you actually get to talk to the growers and producers of the foods and of course all Trisha's tours visit the Prenzel shop in Whitford Village.
Choose from three tours; a four hour or six hour tour and the very popular Sunday Farmers Market tour.
Gift vouchers are available too, the perfect gift for that foodie friend or relative who is hard to buy for!
More information is available at www.blackrabbittours.com or by phoning Trisha on (09) 530 8686.
